Modern Solutions for Agricultural Application
We’re revolutionizing the way farmers apply both liquids and granular products to their crops and their field.
Ultimus is a comprehensive ag input supply chain traceability platform that enables forensic chain-of-custody of individual containers (and blended mixtures) through every step of supply chain. From the time a product container is filled, Ultimus tracks individual containers as they move through the distribution channel; from manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to farmer, and then it records where the product was applied, by whom, when, and at what rate.

Ultimus technology is applicable to all forms of crop input containers:
- Bulk Warehouses
- Ships/Ocean Containers
- Rail Cars
- Tank Trailers
- Bulk Tanks
- All Packaged Goods
- And any and all Transfer and/or Application Equipment.
If something holds or contains crop input products, it can be tagged with a Smart Tag, and if it is tagged, it can be traced with Ultimus. Smart Tag technology can be used to track dry and liquid pesticides, fertilizers, and all crop input products.
The Ultimus system fits in the cab of your applicator or tractor and automatically controls the application rate of insecticides, fungicides, nutrients, and more through a state-of-the-art metering system that applies exactly what you need to different areas of your field. The concept is very similar to the way a printer’s inkjet cartridge works.
Ultimus, in combination with Ultimus-enabled application equipment, automatically creates an electronic link between the contents of an individual product container with a time-stamped, geo-tagged application record that makes it easy to obtain Blocktrain verification of precisely what products were used, when, and at what rate, at any given location in any field where the technology is used. Ultimus delivers the information that society is demanding with respect to what products are used to produce our food and natural fibers.
Societal demands for environmentally sustainable business practices from food marketers and crop protection chemical manufacturers are increasing, as are consumer demands for increased transparency regarding how food is produced. Ultimus addresses both issues by enabling complete traceability of crop input product containers, which makes it possible to know precisely when, where, and at what rate, the contents of a particular product container were applied.
Carbon markets will require application record validation to issue carbon credits to farmers for reduced GHG emissions from reduced use of synthetic nitrogen fertilizer and/or for application of regenerative ag inputs such as microbial N-fixing or soil health products that increase carbon sequestration.
Using Ultimus-enabled containers makes life easier for farmers, because it reduces their workload. Ultimus tracks Smart Tags, and when farmers use packaging that incorporates Smart Tags, Ultimus software works with the farmer’s application system software to ‘read’ from the Smart Tag, the information associated with the product that will be applied. Rather than the farmer having to manually enter product names and application rates, Ultimus auto-captures the information before and during application, and stores the information in an easily transmissible file format that can be stored for future use, or shared with carbon markets, food buyers, regulatory agencies, or others.
Ultimus is already being used by AMVAC and the authorized SIMPAC-applied Solution (SaS) distribution channel to provide comprehensive traceability of all SIMPAS-applied Solutions. Additional Ultimus rollouts for non-SaS products will be forthcoming in the near future. Please check back for more information.
